The rule, before and after
| Today | Proposed |
| Invite-Only ON | Code required. Limit never checked — it restricts nobody. | Code required and at most N new accounts per day. |
| Invite-Only OFF | Code holders always get in; only people without a code use a place. | Everyone, code or not, uses a place. At most N new accounts per day. |
| Limit reached, has a code | (can't happen) | “HOOP is full for today” — code not used, still works tomorrow (the screen already exists). |
| Existing members logging in | Never limited | Never limited (unchanged) |
One setting, one meaning: “how many new people can join HOOP per day”, in the pre-launch invite phase and after public release.
4 · Questions for you
- Name: “Daily Sign-up Limit” (my suggestion), or keep “Daily Limit”, or “Daily Capacity”?
- Warning when inviting more than today's places (Waitlist “Invite next N”, Mint Codes): show it (my suggestion), or no warning?
- Default in the Invite-Only OFF prompt: “Keep limit” as the highlighted button (my suggestion)?
After your answers and a go: backend (count every new account against the limit, check it before the code is used so a code is never burned on a full day), the limit page, the prompt, the invite warning, tests, docs, version and the web version.
